French Sugar Parisian Rhapsody in Blue Jeans with a little Bling - $89.00

Rhapsody in Blue

with Bling!
You know I have to say - this project was a lot of creative fun. I wanted to give these cool jeans a bit of the 60's look but updated. I used a vintage table cloth for the bottom portion and a bit of rescued french lace for the back and pockets. The bling was my creation and to me that was the "updated" portion. I want to thank my daughter, Jennifer. She is my model and she looked so cute in these jeans! If interested in these awesome jeans - check them out at my Etsy shop!

French Sugar Parisian Upcycled Linen Flowered Skirt - $42.00

This gorgeous Linen skirt has the most beautiful colors and I love the button-down front panel and no waistband.  ONLY problem,  it was super, super long! So I "upcycled" it. To make it short I created pleats on the bottom portion of the skirt and in this case, I created five pleats. I have to admit this was not easy and it took several attempts at first. But I found out the easiest way to make sure it comes out even all around,  is to first pin and then hand-baste the pleat. Then, when you know it's even, sew it on the machine and iron it flat. Then continue on with the next layer.  For the rose, I found a scrap piece of fabric and made sure it was pretty close in color to the skirt. What a perfect skirt for Spring and Summer. This beauty can be found at my Etsy shop.

French Sugar Parisian Under the Moonlight Dress - SOLD

So happy to announce that this beautiful "altered couture" dress has been sold to Samantha in Colorado!  Thank you Samantha for your purchase and support. And, thank you for shopping at French Sugar Couture - please come back soon!

French Sugar Couture - Spring is coming!

I have some exciting news! I have a few garments in the works and hopefully, will be posted soon. I have another month of rehab and I'm slowly getting back into the swing of things! I'm currently working on projects that I can sit down for periods of time working on, without getting up-and-down frequently. When you've had a back injury, that makes a big difference. I'm working upto getting to that point but it may be months before it is feasable. So, a lot of my projects are hand sewing or crocheted items.
So stay tuned - it's all very exciting - for me, anyway!  LOL!

French Sugar Parisian Dreamy Knit Upcycled Dress - $79.00

Italian Knit Sweater Dress

I was fortunate to find this lovely Italian knit top that was very, very long. It was in beautiful condition and because it was so long, I decided to make it into a dress. I had the perfect vintage slip for it and even made sure the bottom of the slip was exposed since it had such beautiful lace on it. Just by adding a full panel of lace to the bottom, it really turned out so perfect. I added a few pieces of French lace to the top. The crocheted pieces with the long strands actually were on the sweater when I purchased it.  I was very, very pleased how this project came together and the end result. If interested, you can purchase the beautiful garment at my Etsy shop!

French Sugar Parisian Gypsy Queen Skirt - $82.00

Gypsy Queen Skirt
I do believe this skirt was my first of this style. I've seen this done numerous times but until I found this skirt, I didn't really have an incentive. I loved the texture of the skirt fabric and the colors are so "gypsy".  Pairing the skirt up the the jean fabric was pretty easy. What became a little bit of a challenge was finding the embellisment on the pocket. I used a piece of french lace from a vintage wedding dress and a little crocheted flower.  I do believe it's a hit!

French Sugar Parisian Upcycled White Cotton Vintage Lace Halter Top - $42.00

Vintage crocheted Halter Top
This  lovely garment began with the white cotton halter top. I immeaditely knew it would be the foundation for something special - and it is! The crocheted doiley was so different because of it's shape and it fit the halter top so perfect - they were truly meant to be together - and they are!

French Sugar Parisian White Cotton Top - $74.00 SOLD

White Eyelet
This adorable white top was a joy to create and it's simplicity speaks for itself. Just by extending the length of the top with rows of lace really makes a difference and adds options as far as wearing the garment. I love it!  Happy to say this garment is now SOLD and on it's way to a lovely customer in Canada! Merci Beaucoup!

French Sugar Parisian Upcycled Black Linen Dress - $74.00

Black and White
I'm obsessed with anything that is "black and white"!  And it doesn't make any difference what it is.
So when I came upon this black sleeveless linen dress - I knew exactly what I would do. The only major alteration I did was to shorten it - it originally was to the floor.  I really enjoyed placing the black linen ruffles and vintage lace on the dress, creating this lovely abstract creation.

French Sugar Parisian Tribal Slip Dress - $135.00

Tribal Slip Dress
This beautiful garment began with the flower. I was fiddling with two fabrics and I just loved the cotrast and ended up with this beautiful flower creation. So I figured, why not attach a dress to it! LOL! I already had all the garments, the vintage slip, the top and the skirt. The ruffle is actually made out of the bottom half of the top. The skirt was full length, so by even attaching it below the bust line, it's sill a beautiful length. I adore the basic colors of coco brown and tiel blue. This lovely creation can be found on my etsy shop. Enjoy!

French Sugar Parisian Baby Blue Corset with Vintage Lace - $230.00

This project was one of those that just fell into place. I found this scrap piece of upholstery fabric a while back and I kept it around because I loved the color and I knew eventually, I would know what to do with it. I'm so glad I did - it was such a delight making this. I thought this would make the perfect bridal corset because of the color.  I knew this "one-of-a-kind" garment would be worn by a woman who dared to be different but yet traditional. In the back of my mind, I kept thinking the saying" something borrowed, something blue". Making the flowers was a challenge and I learned a lot from it. The doiley I also had for the longest time but it to was destined for this corset.
